We are very pleased to inform you that the work for the air ambulance night landing site on Rackenford Common is now complete. The lighting post has been erected and some tree clearance was completed.
A huge thankyou to everyone that contributed to the fundraising of over £3,500 which made this project possible. Special thanks to Rackenford Community shop who donated a sum to the project, and Little Angels who raised an incredible £590. Over £1000 of donations were left in memory of Michael Lane who initially started this project whilst on the parish council.
With our local specialist hospital services some distance away (e.g Derriford Hospital for trauma, and Bristol Children’s Hospital for urgent child care) the Air Ambulance is a vital service for our rural community. Devon Air Ambulance currently operates until 2am every day (with future plans to increase this). The Rackenford night landing site is the latest addition to the network of sites which enables the Air ambulance to safely operate and serve rural communities.
A huge thankyou to everyone who has been involved with this project.
